Nighttime hazards pose many risks to Arizona motorists

Unfortunately, motorists across the nation encounter hazards of various kinds while traveling on major and minor roadways. Even when drivers follow the rules of the road and use reasonable care while behind the wheel, this cannot protect him or her from unexpected dangers such as inclement weather or negligent drivers.

No matter the time of year, traveling during night is often more dangerous than it is during the day for Arizona motorists. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the most dangerous time to drive in the state is between sunset and sunrise with Saturday night and Early Sunday morning being the most hazardous.

There are many nighttime hazards that could lead to a serious car accident. According to researchers, during these hours more drivers tend to speed, drive under the influence of alcohol and drive when they are too tired to do so. It was found that roughly six percent of the fatal accidents occurring in state occur on either Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Moreover, most of these accidents occur on when the weather is clear and the pavement is dry, so weather is not a factor during these fatal nighttime accidents.

Whether a fatigued driver, drunk driver or a negligent driver causes an accident, accident victims should understand they might have recourses available to them. A civil action, such as a personal injury claim, could help a victim recover compensation, helping them recover from the injuries and damages he or she suffered in the accident.
