Central Arizona three-car collision kills four

According the Arizona Department of Public Safety, in a tragic three-car accident involving a Dodge pick-up, a Honda Sedan and a Ford pick-up, at least four individuals lost their lives and three others were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

The tragic accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on US 70. According to authorities, preliminary investigations suggest that a Dodge pick-up travelling eastbound, which was being driven by an 18-year-old driver and pulling a flatbed trailer, crossed the center yellow line and drifted into the opposite lane. As a result, a Honda Sedan with five people in it, including a 16-year-old and a 12-year-old moved to the left to avoid the pick-up. Nevertheless, the two vehicles made contact and struck each other on the passenger sides.

The contact made the Honda spin out of the control and strike a guard rail in the eastbound lane. The Dodge pick-up also struck a guard rail in the westbound lane. In the chaos, a Ford pick-up was unable to avoid the Dodge pick-up and collided with it, as well. According to authorities, the collision between the two pick-ups caused both vehicles to burn.

Even though the 18-year-old and 28-year-old drivers of the Dodge and Ford pick-ups respectively received some injuries, they were treated and released from the hospital. Sadly, four out of the five individuals in the Honda sedan lost their lives. These victims included a 47-year-old woman, an 18-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 12-year-old. Only the 50-year-old driver survived the tragic three-vehicle car accident.

Any life lost in an accident is tragic. Such car accidents are even more tragic when young lives are lost. Even though all drivers have an on-going duty to exercise reasonable caution the road and obey laws, accidents sadly happen every day. Lives lost in an accident cannot be brought back, but if negligence was involved, that negligent party may be held responsible. It is hard to think of contacting an attorney during such times, but for those who have lost a loved one, or have suffered harm in an accident, they may want to discuss legal options with a personal injury lawyer. Depending on the facts of one's case, one may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, funeral and burial expenditure and more.
