Impaired driver causes accident, kills one, injures another

Despite all the laws in place against drinking and driving and the potential incarceration that might result, impaired driver still take to the roads and cause accidents. Their actions potentially lead to serious injuries and even result in the death of other unsuspecting innocent drivers on the road.

A recent drunk driving crash in Arizona claimed the life of a driver. A 22-year-old person lost their life after the vehicle they were driving was rear-ended by a drunk driver. The accident is still under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that a 28-year-old man who was speeding in a Chevy Impala rear-ended a Honda Civic that was being driven by a 22-year-old individual. As a result of the collision, the Civic caught fire while the Impala continued into the opposite traffic lanes, collided into a bus bench and came to rest by a chain link fence.

Officers who responded to the scene of the accident and bystanders tried to extract the 22-year-old driver from the burning vehicle, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Tragically, the 22-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A passenger was removed from the burning vehicle, and according to reports; the passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment of the life-threatening injuries suffered. According to investigators, at the time of the accident, the 28-year-old driver of the Impala who triggered the fatal accident was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or possibly both.

Following a serious accident, those affected might have a cause of action. The loved ones of the deceased could file a wrongful death claim. This could help with the expenses associated with the crash such as funeral bills, lost wages and damages. Those injured could file a personal injury claim to recover compensation for medical bills and pain and suffering.

Driving is a privilege and every motorist on the road has an ongoing duty to obey all traffic laws. When a driver fails to do so, and harm to another results, a negligent driver may be held liable for the harm and damage they cause. An injured party may be entitled to compensation for the expenses stemming from the accident. Understanding what options are available is important, and those affected should seek guidance and advice about their situation.
